Elayne wants to provide you with a treatment of value and that is personalized during these changing times. To reassure clients that COVID-19 pre-cautions are in accordance with Government Guidelines and Brighter Spaces has been allowed to remain open due to being Private Healthcare premises by the Local Authority. Elayne has taken advice from her Membership Body CThA, on how to keep her clients safe during these times. Procedures have put in place by Brighter Spaces clinic and Elayne so treatment can go ahead whilst keeping everyone within the building safe.

Please Note these procedures when you attend the clinic, as follows:-

  • All staff, practitioners, and clients are required to wear a face covering in all communal areas which is now is mandatory.

  • Please note when you enter the building if you can wear a face covering.Please let Therapist Elayne know if you are exempt, prior to the treatment.

  • It is the duty of any individual visiting The Brighter Space Clinic Islington, for any reason, to report any known incident of Covid-19 that has affected them, a family member, or any other person with whom they have had contact before they enter the premises.

  • Covid-19 is an illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It is caused by a virus called coronavirus. Symptoms can range from mild or moderate to severe or fatal.

    Brighter Spaces Clinic/Therapists

  • It is paramount to the Brighter Spaces Clinic Islington and Therapists who are based at the clinic, the safeguarding and welfare of all visitors/clients to the clinic. It has been considered who may be harmed and/or at risk, the controls required from Government guidance and, indeed, any additional measure we have deemed appropriate to implement.

    Guidance within the Brighter Space Clinic

  • Considered the risks to staff, clients, contractors, delivery drivers, cleaners and all visitors when attending our premises.

  • Especially, the vulnerable groups that visit Brighter Spaces, including the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.

  • To help reduce the spread of Covid-19 we would remind everyone of the Public Health England advice which can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance.

    Brighter Spaces have implemented the following measures on entering the building:-

  • Client is only allowed to enter the building if they are free from COVID-19 symptoms. The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

  • Everyone who enters the building must wear a face covering, except for children under 3 years or those who may find it difficult to manage them correctly. 

  • Please all Therapists/Visitors/Clients attending Brighter Spaces bring/wear a suitable face covering with you and the Therapist should remind their clients. 

  • This should be worn in all communal areas. There is fitted signage at our entrances to remind everyone entering of these restrictions. Also, installed non-touch hand sanitisers at all entrances, and we would ask that these are used on entry and exit by all.

Reception/Waiting Area/Kitchen/Bathrooms

  • Please ensure social distancing is practised in all communal areas, as indicated with floor markings. 

  • To minimise the number of people in the building and to avoid overcrowding we politely request that practitioners should arrive just a few minutes before their booked time and also advise their clients the same. 

  • Clients attend their appointments alone where possible. 

  • Practitioners/Visitors/Clients will not be required to sign in, however, to comply with Health, Safety and Fire Regulations the practitioner/visitor will register their name (or initials if preferred) with our Concierge, and likewise advise our Concierge when they leave the building.

  • There is a 2 metre social distancing requirement,. there are signs and floor markers are displayed throughout each building as guides and reminders of the 2 metre social distancing guidelines.

  • Concierge staff have been provided with full face visors which they are required to wear throughout the day and our reception desks have been fitted with protective acrylic screens.

  • To simplify and improve disinfection/cleaning procedures all surfaces will be free of non-essential items, eg leaflets, magazines, and business cards.

  • Each bathroom will have disposable seat covers, disposable hand towels, appropriate hand washing liquid and hand sanitiser.

  • Unfortunately, the kitchen area will be closed to the public until further notice; Brighter Spaces staff that use the kitchen will adhere to strict disinfectant and cleaning protocol.

  • Clients attend their appointments alone where possible. 

Brighter Space Clinic - Consulting Room

  • Removal of soft furnishings and accessories, to reduce the risk of infection. All furniture has been re-arranged to ensure wherever possible social distancing rules are adhered to. 

  • Hand sanitiser will be made available in each room.

  • Disinfectant spray, disposable wiping towels and gloves have been provided within each room.

  • PPE is disposed of within the blue bin bags (provided in the room).  The blue bag should be securely tied and placed in the black bin in each room as directed.

    Cleaning Protocol

  • Electrostatic cleaning machines, and all rooms and areas of Brighter Spaces will be electrostatically cleaned at the end of each day.  This technology delivers precise application of disinfectant with three times the coverage compared to traditional sprays, wipes or cloths.

  • Non touch wall mounted sanitisers have been installed at the entrance and on each landing area.

  • All cleaning products will be either 70% alcohol content, bleach based or specifically labelled anti-virus.

  • A thorough deep clean has been undertaken at each site prior to re-opening.

  • ‘Touch points’ throughout the building will be cleaned regularly during the day.  This will include, door handles, push plates, light switches, bannisters, non-upholstered furniture, desk, and tabletops.  Bathrooms will be inspected and cleaned regularly throughout the day.

  • White Bin liners will be used in general waste bins, and these will be replaced frequently, and bins will be disinfected on a regular basis.

  • Hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray, disposable gloves, and disposable wipe towels will be available in each room, bathroom, and reception area.  Where risk assessment identifies wearing of gloves as a requirement of the job, an adequate supply of these will be provided. Staff have been instructed on how to remove gloves carefully to reduce contamination, and how to dispose of them safely. All staff will be observing strict hand hygiene with regular hand washing for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water.

  • Where possible windows in all areas will be open to allow ventilation.
     
    PPE

  • The wearing of PPE is in accordance to government guidance and appropriately worn and disposed of.

  • Regarding the disposal of PPE, and other personal waste, such as used tissues, disposable cleaning cloths, aprons, masks, gloves etc, these can be disposed of using the blue waste bags provided in each room.  The blue waste bag containing the used PPE, should then be securely tied, and placed in the black bins provided in each room.

  • The concierge staff will ensure that the disposal of PPE is in accordance with government guidelines. The blue bin bags will be placed into a black bin bag, securely tied, and kept separate from other waste.   This waste will be kept in a secure outside place, for at least 72 hours before being placed in the external waste bin.
      
    Procedure of Suspected Symptoms of Covid-19 Incident

    It is the duty of any individual visiting Brighter Spaces, for any reason, to report any known incident of Covid-19 that has affected them, a family member, or any other person with whom they have had contact. Similarly, if one of our practitioners is advised that any client, they have seen has been diagnosed with Covid-19, it is their duty of care and responsibility, to advise Brighter Spaces staff immediately. Brighter Spaces will then follow government legislation and contact PHE to discuss the case, identify people who have been in contact with them and will take advice on any actions or precautions that should be taken.

    Therapist Guidance for Client/Treatment

  • Prior to treatment a Covid-19 Form and Consultation form must be completed.

  • Client to bring their own pen to sign any paperwork.

  • Client to bring their own water to drink from.

  • Both Therapist and client need to wash their hands prior to the treatment.

  • Therapist will open and close the door to the treatment room.

  • Therapist will advise of where you will place your clothing and valuables

  • Limit face to face contact.

  • Therapist and client will limit conversation as much as possible.

  • Appointment/Time.

  • Client should inform Therapist if they are unwell and if they have any COVID-19 signs or symptom (listed above) prior to the appointment or entering the Brighter Spaces Clinic.

  • If feeling unwell prior to the appointment, then Client must contact Elayne on her mobile as soon as possible to avoid any further charges. Please note the Therapist maybe within a treatment so alternatively if you ring reception at Brighter Spaces, they can take a message.

  • All appointments will be paid in advance, please speak to Elayne (Therapist) about rescheduling bookings policy..

  • When client/visitor arrives to the building, press the buzzer and when reception answer informs them who you have come to visit ie name of the therapist/room number.

  • The reception/concierge will provide you access to the building, please if you can wait in the reception area until called by the Therapist.

  • Client should arrive a few minutes prior to the scheduled treatment time.

  • Please be advised that at times the prior treatment may over-run – so please wait, until called.

  • Please note if you are running late please let Elayne know via or the clinic reception, this may result in your treatment time being shortened.

  • PPE that will be worn by Practitioner to wear a type II mask, visor and client will be asked to wear a face covering, please speak to Elayne if there are any exemptions or adaptions to the treatment.

  • The couch will be sanitised and covered with linen or couch roll used prior to the treatment and sanitised afterwards with anti-bacterial spray/wipes.

  • Towels will be provided by the Therapist.

  • All towels and linens will be appropriately be placed for laundry and washed at 60 degrees.

  • The room will be appropriately be aired in-between clients and adequate gaps in-between.
